People Over Dollar Bills

We hit the road at the end of June, Alberta bound!  This was our second work trip to Alberta, and the first (last October) was full of such richness that we had full anticipation this trip would be no different…we were right.

We hit the road at the end of June, Alberta bound!  This was our second work trip to Alberta, and the first (last October) was full of such richness that we had full anticipation this trip would be no different…we were right.

Tammy and I have known from the very beginning that Meraki + Light was God’s doing; His dream for us.  We made a commitment from the very beginning to be fully ourselves, real, honest and open on our website and social media platforms, so that our clients could feel that same freedom…and it’s been beautiful.  There are so many times where we throw our hands up in the air, look at one another and say… “what?!?!”.  Usually because whatever just took place was entirely out of our hands and the doing of our Maker.  We typically spend the next half hour or so astonished and in awe…usually using the word “wow” repeatedly.

Our recent trip to Alberta was filled with these “what?!?!  wow!!!” moments.  From breath-taking sessions, to connecting with old friends or family, to having deep, tear-jerking conversations with new friends.  We were astonished, overwhelmed and truthfully lost for words.  It was a weekend that marked us, and reminded us of just how good and faithful God has been to us on this journey into the unknown.  And all of this, was found in surrender.

We both took massive steps into the unknown, we gave up much to go on this new journey as “Meraki + Light”.  And most of the journey we’ve been figuring out as we go, leaning on grace

This has not been a journey of success as much as it has been a journey of grace.  For if not for the leaning into grace, we would not have success to hold.

And our success is not found in how many bookings we make or how much money we are bringing in, but in how fruitful our connections with our amazing clients have become.  We have ventured places we only had dreamed were possible.  And that has been because of grace.  All of it a gift from God.  We are thankful.

So remember as you are pushing for success, that maybe all the beauty and life that you are running after is not found in the dollar bills or the number of clients, but the depth and significance of relationship that is possible in your work.  We can give so much of ourselves without giving our hearts, but without our hearts invested fully into what we do, what are we truly giving and receiving in the end?  I believe (because I’ve found it to be true), when you make your work about loving people, and pouring your heart out into PEOPLE, that you get the BEST return for your work.  And in that place, you’ll find the most joy and life in what you do.

So to all of our clients who have journeyed deep with us…thank you.  You are our success story.   We deeply love you all
